Schlossberg, Joseph
(1875-1971)
   American journal-ist and trade union leader. He was born in Belorussia and emigrated to the US with his family when he was a child. He worked in the sweatshops of New York and was prominent in the Garment Workers' Union. In 1913 he was elected secretary of the Brotherhood of Tailors and in 1914 was a member of the group which seceded from the United Garment Workers of America to form the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. After his retirement in 1940 he devoted himself to community and Zionist affairs.
